Today’s song is a classic from the mid-nineties… There isn’t a lot that Massive Attack have created that I have failed to enjoy, this track is one of my favourites especially given that Tricky was still part of the band..
Fusing dub with club, soul with hip-hop, Massive Attack always mastered and remastered the art of trip-hop and chill.
Today’s song is taken from their second album, ‘Protection’ which was released in 1994 and was to be the last album to feature Tricky as a member before he left to go solo in 1995.
‘Protection’ was featured in the top ten of Rolling Stone magazine’s “Coolest Albums of All Time” list, calling it “great music for when you’re driving around a city at 4 am”. I couldn’t agree more with that statement, it’s trance like, relaxing and perfect driving music! I was traveling home the other evening playing ‘Protection’ and would’ve been happy to drive all night to the hypnotic beat of ‘Eurochild’
