SONG OF THE DAY Canary – Women’s Business

Canary are a 5-piece band from Melbourne, Australia that came together back in 2007 when songwriter Matthew Kenneally brought together a beat-boxing trumpet player and an eccentric violinist to perform his songs on a cold winters night in Northcote.

Things have evolved since then and Canary now find themselves following a more traditional musical format which, in turn, has further developed their reputation as an engaging live act.  What has remained a constant, however, is the intrepid honesty with which Matthew Kenneally writes his songs and this is part of what makes their sound rather unique.

‘Women’s Business’ is a steady, heady track which starts off slowly, gradually building and developing until it breaks into a crescendo, all the time developing into something you could expect to come from the likes of Thom Yorke with its slow-burning sound.

Due for release as the first single off their next LP which is due out in 2016, ‘Woman’s Business’ can be downloaded for free via Canary’s Soundcloud or Bandcamp pages.
