I’ve had my eye on Palace for a little while now and covered the release of their debut EP back in December, (which you can read here).
With their forthcoming EP, ‘Chase The Light’ coming out later this year, the London four-piece have just revealed a video for their latest single, ‘Head Above The Water’. Due for release on September 7th, this track is as a perfect example of their rich and dreamy sound, one that makes Palace so distinctive.
Discussing the video director Oliver Hadlee Perch said:
“When you are swept up by a wave, you are caught underwater. Not knowing which way is up or down, left or right. This was sort of the starting point for this video. This idea of confusion. Concussion even. Dreams played a big part in this film. How many different scenes can sit side by side harmoniously. I wanted to try and create mini narratives which all lead the same way yet are completely removed from each other. Tied together. Across the video we want the audience to be hypnotized, drawn in yet not knowing why or how.”
Palace have lined up dates for their debut UK headline tour. The tour will kick off with a set at Norwich’s Sound and Visions Festival on October 8, before headline shows in Reading, Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Brighton, London, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, winding up with an appearance at the Swn Festival in Cardiff on November 7.
