SONG OF THE DAY Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery sings

What a gig!…What more can one say when something exceeds your anticipations and goes way beyond your initial expectations?  Father John Misty is a something of a marvel, cast aside the fact that he writes rather good songs, his performance is captivating, and to watch him glide, dip and dive all over the stage, swinging his microphone as he goes is mesmerizing in itself.  He connects with his audience, cracking jokes along the way, never faltering in his charismatic approach, forever expressive and good-humoured.

For me the highlight of the evening was when ‘This Is Sally Hatchet’ and ‘Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings’  were played back to back, it was electric and definitely a moment of bliss; reinforcing my first impressions which were that I definitely enjoyed the edginess of his first album a lot greater than his latest ‘I Love You, Honeybear’.
