At the beginning of last month Helsinki’s soul revivalists, The Soul Investigators returned with their third collaborative album with the Brooklyn born and now Helsinki-based, Nicole Willis. Titled ‘Happiness In Every Style’, the album’s name comes from the lyrics in third track ‘Lets Communicate’ and was released on their own label Timmion Records on October 3.
The whole album was written, performed, produced and released by the band and, true to its name, does indeed shift through a hearty selection of sounds, with each track relishing in these varied styles.
Today’s soulful tune comes from this new release and was initially a toss-up between the upbeat and funky ‘Together We Climb’ and the more mellow, laid back ‘Open Sky’… In the end I opted for the first choice but it was close! This is an album with a song for any mood and if you haven’t already given it a listen, I recommend that you do so now. Check out their bandcamp page here
