SONG OF THE DAY Hanni El Khatib – Moonlight

0003964176_10Multi-instrumentalist Hanni El Khatib designs songs (as described in his own words), “for anyone who has ever been shot or hit by a train!”, and I think it’s fair to say that his music is once heard and never forgotten!

His creations blend a combination of blues, folk and garage rock into one big sound, a sound which made a very large impression in a very short period of time, quite a feat for someone who went from being a relative unknown to an indie-rock great.

The San Franciscan-born, and now LA-based singer-songwriter has released three albums since his rise in 2011 and has since hooked up with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach who, already a fan,  went on to produce his second album in 2013 titled ‘Head In The Dirt’.  Working with Dan Auerbach has also helped push Khatib’s music further into the limelight with his songs being featured in numerous places from Super Bowl ads to episodes of ‘House’.

Today’s song is taken from his latest album ‘Moonlight’ which was released in January this year – Check out the full album here if you haven’t already, it’s well worth a listen and purchase!
