SONG OF THE DAY Comet Is Coming – Star Exploding In Slow Motion

0005898581_10“In the sky will be seen a fire, dragging a tail of sparks…”

Just as Nostradamus prophesied in his quatrains, The Comet Is Coming: “The great star for seven days will burn, the cloud will cause two suns to appear and the big mastiff all night will howl.”

The prediction of our imminent demise may seem like a heavy topic to base a musical venture on, but London-based band The Comet Is Coming are far from harbingers of doom.  Instead, their message delivers large helpings of light, joy and celebration, all of which are delivered in a fiery blaze of musical mantras, polyrhythmic beats and mind bending colours.

Incorporating elements of jazz, electronica, funk and psych-rock, The Comet Is Coming are made up of Shabaka Hutchings on Saxophone (aka “King Shabaka”), Dan Leavers on synths and keys (aka “Danalogue The Conquerer”) and Maxwell Hallett on drums (aka “Betamax Killer”)..and their mission:  To paint the universe with their cosmic vibrancy and sound-shifting light!

Signed to The Leaf Label the band are due to release their debut EP ‘Prophecy’ on limited edition 12″ vinyl and digital on 20th November, with an album planned for early in 2016.

With themed titles like ‘Do The Milky Way’, ‘Star Exploding In Slow Motion’ (listen above), and ‘Cosmic Serpent’ featuring on this spaced out, moon-funked 5-track EP, all you have to do now is ask yourself: are you ready to explore this intergalactic world?…..well, what are you waiting for?
