Modern Merchant is the musical project of John Parson (vocals/guitar), Jesse Stanford (vocals/guitar), and Sydney Weiss (vocals/drums). Together they create anthemic and dreamy concoctions blending elements of indie rock, psychedelia, dream pop and electro.
Their last single ‘Be That As It May’ features on their latest EP ‘Virtues’, which was released on August 28 this year, following their folky first single ‘Bucolic’.
Getting straight in there with a fast-paced beat, this energetic mix feels like you have just been thrown into a blender alongside a healthy portion of distorted garage guitars and a large helping of stand-out, bluesy vocals. Another effective feature of this song is the contrasting peaks and troughs of verse and chorus, dynamically it is very effective. Listen above.
