SONG OF THE DAY Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Hot Coals

Ahh, where to begin with this one! Today’s curious and dynamic track fantastically stretches itself out over a glorious 7 minutes, with each gripping second a compelling and progressive blend of tuneful melodies and undulating rhythms.  It’s a song that captivates right from the start, with gentle acoustic guitar picking a delicate and fitting accompaniment to the striking falsetto vocals of lead man Alex Ebert.  Moments in and the rhythm kicks in, joined by punctuated and tuneful piano, combined with wistful folk-rock feel and a twisting, twirling arrangement that keeps you guessing throughout.

Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros have returned after a two-year break with a corker of a track! Released ahead of their forthcoming album due out early next year, ‘Hot Coals’ is a fantastic comeback and a promising sign of exciting things to come.
