0006272939_10HATY HATY is a brand new Netherlands-based, electronic project which combines the work of producer David Douglas with the vocals of longtime friend and singer, Johannes Sigmond (aka Blaudzun).

Already established in their own solo careers, with Douglas releasing his debut album ‘Moon Observations’ last year, ‘High As The Sun’ is the first track to be released by the duo. With it’s stripped back, almost glam rock sounding beat and tuneful vocals reminiscent of Wild Beast’s Hayden Thorpe, this new single looks set to soar high.  Sleek and smooth in production, there is also impact and tension within this track, both of which are expressed with an effortless and understated charm.

Their name derives from the Indonesian word ‘Hati’ meaning heart or, if used twice, it means good luck; this element coinciding nicely with the bands chosen artwork which happens to be another feature I am definitely appreciating (see below).

‘High As The Sun’ is taken from the duo’s upcoming debut album due out in early March next year.  Keep an ear out for more to come on the bands Facebook page and Bandcamp page.
