As the return of psychedelic, surf-rock and beat music continues to inspire musicians all over the world, new bands with old sounds continue to crop up everywhere; this is great news for me as I can’t get enough of it!
Today’s song comes from an Auckland-based 3-piece called The Echo Ohs, I have featured them before but after little delve into some of their earlier material today, I found this little gem on a split EP that was released in July last year via Waist Deep Records.
Consisting of Guy Forks on guitar, Yolanda Fagan on Guitar/Bass and Emlyn Williams on Drums, this young New Zealand outfit create an interesting blend of primitive Rock ‘n’ Roll and swamp-pop. It’s a fantastic garage sound, the kind I love, not at all jangly but jagged, sharp and fiercely cutting. Listen above.
