I’ve been checking out this catchy little tune today and sat there trying to think what the vocals reminded me of..the best I could come up with was Les Claypool of Primas but you may listen to it and think, what is she on about! Perhaps this is more obvious in the track ‘New Lawn‘ and perhaps its just the hollering, sharp tone that made me think Primus, it’s certainly not the music side but was a point I felt the urge to mention!
Either way, it may be a good idea to introduce San Francisco-based Spooky Mansion (interestingly Primus are from San Francisco too) and today’s song ‘Gone To Far.’ Released ahead of their debut EP due in January via Wave Dweller Records, this soulful surf-rock track has a great kick to it and if this is a taste of things to come I’ll happily indulge in more. The nice laid-back feel, soothing chorus harmonies and clean beats are slashed about with cutting vocals and I really like this contrast. Listen above
