SONG OF THE DAY Junior Kimbrough – Nobody But You

Junior+Kimbrough-330x330Never let it be said that I’ve let Valentines Day pass without a hint of romance, and what better way to express the tender message than with a little bit of Junior Kimbrough?

Best known for his hypnotic style of guitar playing, there is no doubting Junior Kimbrough’s sound.  His technique implemented the use of mid-tempo rhythms and a steady drone played with his thumb on the bass strings of his guitar which gave his sexed-up blues an almost trance-inducing quality.

Taken from his second studio album ‘All Night Long’ comes today’s song which was produced by Robert Palmer for Fat Possum Records and is titled ‘Nobody But You,’ (which also featured Junior’s son Kent “Kinney” Kimbrough (aka Kenny Malone) on drums and  R. L. Burnside’s son Garry Burnside on bass.)  Listen above.
