SONG OF THE DAY Old Smile – Sleeping Dancing World

a2134790419_16Now I do love it when song instantly grabs you, especially if it has both a catchy melody and funky groove!  Lucky me, I just so happen to have found both of these key elements in today’s song!

‘Sleeping Dancing World ‘ kicks off with a brisk beat and is anything but sleepy right from the onset.  Coupled with a heavy melodic bass line, the rhythm section is most definitely a defining feature to this song and sets an upbeat pace right from the onset whilst floaty vocals provide a lightweight flow.

Going by the name Old Smile, Tom Herman is a New Jerseyan artist who writes and records his own music with a fresh, diverse DIY ethic.  His lo-fi sound is steeped in psych-rock whilst he cites influences such as Thee Oh Sees, Tame Impala, Timber Timbre, Charles Bradley and Deerhunter; these elements all detectable in his psychedelia, soul, funk and Indie sound.

Old Smile released a new EP today titled ‘In This Booth With You,’ featuring today’s song it is available to download from his Bandcamp page here
