Brooklyn band Woods have just announced the release date of their ninth album, ‘City Sun Eater in the River of Light,’ due on April 9th via the band’s Woodsist imprint. Prior to its release they have just shared opening track ‘Sun City Creeps,’ the more I listen to this the more I love it and lets face it, what’s not to love?
The fusion of sounds going on here is a real feast for the ears with its smooth vocals, brooding drums and ascending mariachi horns all bubbling to the surface of this rich melting pot. Add to this a dash of crisp ride cymbal, one 70’s sounding guitar melody and bring to a heated instrumental boil, this is how you cook up soul, psych-folk and Afro cuban jazz…and this is how to do it very well! Have a little taster above!
