SONG OF THE DAY Unloved – After Dinner

5.-jade094_wide-09a430ae8c61f349fb53a4f1dd37f54c8ca106a0-s800-c85What do you get if you cross the The Shangri-La’s, Ennio Morricone, Jack Nitzsche, Nino Rota with the electronic sounds of Raymond Scott?….what you get is the new project of producer and scorer David Holmes who, in collaboration with film and TV composer Keefus Ciancia (True Detective), and songwriter-vocalist Jade Vincent (The Jade Vincent Experiment) has created the Unloved.  Their vision with this venture is to merge these great influences and in doing so will recreate a golden era, but with a modern, electronic twist.

The whole project started when David met Keefus and Jade in LA in 2013, that same summer both Keefus and Jade had started a regular Tuesday night residency in Los Feliz called the Rotary Room.  Each week at the Rotary room a collective of great musicians came together including Woody Jackson (Red Dead Redemption), Gus Seyffert (Beck, The Black Keys), Jay Bellerose (T Bone Burnett) and Deantoni Parks (John Cale) and their improvised ensembles were organised by Jade, Keefus and David Piltch.  David Holmes was invited to DJ between each band and this is how and where the whole group came together in the first place.

Woody Jackson had a studio in LA and where the band recorded their debut album’Guilty Of Love,’ this was released earlier this month.

Today’s song appears on this debut LP and is titled ‘After Dinner.’  Smokey vocals and a 60’s drenched melody opens the track before the part spoken, part sung verse of Jade Vincent smoothly glides in.  Listen above.
