SONG OF THE DAY Atlas Lab – Crystal Lake (Green Line Records Live Session)

atlas_lab1“Somewhere between the woods and the dance floor, the past and the neon future, the mind and the hammering heart…”

These are the realms in which Boston based Atlas Lab dwell, for their sound fuses the old with the new, the upbeat with the smooth, crossing genres and blending styles together to create delicate layers of soulful psychedelic folk.

The band, consisting of Solei  (Vocals, Looping, Effects), John Shakespear (Acoustic Guitar, Keys, Vocals), Samm Bahman (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Otto Briner (Bass) and Alex Brander (Drums, Percussion, Samples), are a diverse collective who are not afraid of a little experimentation, blending electronic and acoustic instrumentation with a mix of male/female vocal lead.

Releasing their debut EP ‘Wake Up Slow’  this January, the band have just shared new track  ‘Crystal Lake’ which, recorded in a live session and produced by Green Line Records,is driven by the sassy vocals of Solei, (previously of Goldbloc – see 21st November on my blog page here).  It’s got a jazzy, soulful, free-flowing feel about it which flaunts the natural chemistry of this band in a live environment, I’m enjoying the laid-back, fluid tones of ‘Crystal Lake.’  Listen above.

Check out lots more great sounds from Atlas Lab on their Soundcloud page and official website
