SONG OF THE DAY Astronauts – Recondition

downloadIt was the gentle repetition of a melodic guitar rhythym that immediately drew my ears to this song today.  The mellow introduction has an instantly warming effect with trickling piano keys a flourishing accompaniment, I’m really liking ‘Recondition’ so far…..

Dan Carney, aka Astronauts, has a lovely way with his voice, its soothing properties a very distinct feature to his music.  Not a stranger to the Listening Post Blog, I’ve been following the east London singer-songwriter for a while now, (see previous features here and here ),  and have to say that his latest single ‘Recondition’ is one of favourite tracks so far!..and this is only after two plays!

Coupled with instantly recognisable vocals comes an expressive style of writing for which Astronauts is also becoming well-known; his music a reflective, dreamy and often personal journey into a world where intricate details are both delicately and organically delivered.  With Dan Carney comes a sense of being, he connects through his music and relates through his words, perhaps this is why I appreciate ‘Recondition’ so very much, it has certainly plucked at my musical heartstrings.

Today’s song is taken Dan Carney’s forthcoming second album ‘End Codes’ which is due on May 6th via Lo Recordings.
