Adam Torres first appeared with his self released debut album ‘Nostra Nova’ in 2006 and it has taken ten years for the folk singer-songwriter to return. In his musical absence he has spent the past decade volunteering in Ecuador, completing a graduate degree in Texas, and working to improve the water quality of the Rio Grande River; this is one young man who has definitely not let the grass grow under his feet!
In addition to this, Adam Torres continued to write songs, hundreds of them in fact, of which some were released as demos in 2012, but it is only now with his upcoming album ‘Pearls To Swine’ that we are to see a completed follow-up.
Ahead of this release Adam Torres has shared a couple of songs, one of which I caught today and it stopped me in my tracks. Hauntingly beautiful, ‘Outlands’ is 6 minutes of enchanting escapism. Immediately I was swept away by Adam Torres’ lonesome falsetto, transported and roaming amidst wild landscapes with sun drenched horizons; transcending into ethereal worlds, this music is fiercely potent. Listen above.
‘Pearls To Swine’ is due on 9th September this year via Fat Possum Records and can be pre-ordered from here
