I cannot resist the percussive element to today’s song, I love each and every big, meaty beat and am carried like stone on the shore by this vast wave of fluid sound. This track gives space, solitude and solace, it’s rhythmic pulse fires into your head and for five blissful minutes this is all you have to think about.
‘Field’ appears on a brand new album titled ‘Randoms’ which was released by Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet last week. Featuring tracks submitted for different compilations over the years, the oldest is today’s song from 1996, this was the first Four Tet track ever released on Leaf Records Invisible Soundtracks compilation.
When describing his latest release, Four Tet has written: “Over the years there have been some pieces of music that I have made specially for compilation projects or have ended being released only as part of a compilation album. As time passes I look back at this music and find the context it was originally put in often feels a bit random now. So I have put together this new album called Randoms that brings together this music in a different way.”
Also adding how, “all the tracks here have been released before and I am sure some internet searching will give you the full details if you are interested.”
‘Randoms’ is now available on Bandcamp as a “name your price” release, so that’s where I’m off to now… Listen to ‘Field’ above.
