SONG OF THE DAY Bobby Bland – Honey Child

Bobby-Blue-Bland-Rhytm-Blues_MILIMA20130624_0157_8Robert Calvin Brooks, aka Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, Bobby was sometimes referred to as the “Lion of the Blues” and once you have had the pleasure of listening to this big voice, it’s not hard to see why he gained such an apt title.

”Honey Child” was released in 1964 via Duke Records as the B-side to the single, ‘Ain’t Nothing You Can Do’ and is a wholesome chunk of rich soul, big brassy horns and Latin-infused rhythms, with Bobby Bland’s vocals the lush cherry on top of this sweet slice of soul.
