In 2012 Clementine Creevy, guitarist, singer and founder of Cherry Glazerr began making music under the name of Clembutt, a solo project that was both created and recorded from her bedroom.
Now she performs as Cherry Glazerr, a LA indie rock/dream pop trio who have just been signed to Secretly Canadian. The band have yet to announce a release date for their first album for the label but have shared new tune, “Told You I’d Be with the Guys.”
A press release explains that lead singer Clementine Creevy wrote the tune after a realization that she needs to “consciously strive for solidarity with other women in order to combat the sexism that is ingrained in our culture and consequentially within herself.” Above a coolly paced drum clap and Rickenbacker fuzz leads, she sings, “Where are my ladies? / I guess that was my fault.”
Creevy’s voice has a stand-out quality about it, resembling Karen O and even slightly Fever Ray in places, accompanied by punchy drums and melodic keys this song snatched me up immediately. Check out the song and complimentary visuals from director Riley Blakeway above.
