I’ve just stumbled upon this glistening little gem of a song and it was an instant hit for me! Titled ‘Riverside,’ this track is performed by Bjarke Bendtsen’s (ex-The Migrant) new project called Rainbrother.
Coming together with a group of musicians from the Copenhagen indie scene, Rainbrother released their first single,‘East African Dream’ earlier this summer which is also well worth a listen.
‘Riverside’ has been mixed by Noah Georgeson (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, The Strokes) who has agreed to become midwife for Rainbrother’s first full length album which is due in February 2017.
According to the information published on his Soundcloud page, “Bendtsen ended The Migrant earlier this year in Austin, Texas at Austin’s Psych Fest, Levitation. Since the first Migrant album came out in 2010 he has been backed by musicians from Austin on his American tours and by fellow Danes when touring Europe.
The birth of Rainbrother marks an end of this era, settling down in Copenhagen and a move from indie folk to electric rock territory.”
‘Riverside’ opens on an upbeat rhythm, cascading keys and soaring vocals that are echoed by delicately drawn-out guitar chords, its intro is most inviting. Just before the verse begins the vibrant intro breaks and subsides, allowing space for crystal clear vocals and a hushed guitar to elegantly glide over gentle drums, and as the chorus beckons the song begins to swell and build once more, delivering the transition in a melodic wave of optimism and brightness…it’s fantastic! Listen above and watch the band perform it live here:

Rainbrother will be releasing ‘Riverside’ as a single later this autumn prior to the album release which will be out in February next year. Keep an eye on this band on their Facebook page here.
