SONG OF THE DAY Moses Boyd – Rye Lane Shuffle

0007532856_10I can be a bit selective when it comes to jazz, but took to this song straight away because I can more than cope any jazzy tangent when there are superb beats and frantically exciting drumming like this involved!

This song has got me moving and, as I always say, I’m a sucker for a good beat and Rye Lane Shufffle more than ticks this box!

Drummer, composer, Producer and electronic musician Moses Boyd is The London Born Winner of the MOBO Awards 2015 Best jazz act, The John Peel ‘Play more Jazz Award’ from the 2016 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards. And the 2014 worshipful company of music young jazz musician of the year award.

Moses has worked and collaborated with the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith, Ed Motta, Little Simz, Four Tet, Floating Points, Zara McFarlane, Gilles Peterson, Soweto Kinch and many more. Whilst leading his own outfits The Exodus and Solo Exodus which infuses Jazz, hip hop and electronica influences. Moses also releases music under his own label Exodus Records.

Today’s song was released earlier this year and boasts some of the craziest drumming I’ve heard in a while, I love it! The B-side to Rye Lane Shufffle is the equally delightful and aptly titled, Drum Danceif, like me you enjoy a good beat, look no further…

For the very awesome price of £1 you can purchase both of these songs from Moses Boyd’s Bandcamp page here.  Listen above.
