SONG OF THE DAY C.W Stoneking – Early In The Morning

227I’ll never forget the first time I watched a C.W Stoneking video, I’d been listening to his music for a while but never anticipated that this was the man behind such a tremendously authentic ‘old’ sound!

Drawing influences from pre-war blues, gospel blues, Chicago blues, jazz, 1920’s calypso and folklore, C.W Stoneking is a self-taught musician with a voice you will never forget!

Incorporating personal experiences into his storytelling, his songs recreate an old Southern blues sound and it is easy to hear how CW has been inspired by the likes of Son House, Robert Johnson, Skip James and Bukka White.

Today’s song had to be a live version of Early In The Morning, it’s a great performance of a song which originally features on the 2008 album, Jungle Blues.  Check it out above..
