Woods are to release a new album, Love Is Love, next month and as I write this I am also giving its title track a listen for the first time. As anticipated, it flourishes with what has become their very own distinctive sound: graceful melodies, soaring falsetto’s, warm horn sections and vibrant African-inspired percussion…It’s a great track and a perfect album opener!
Love Is Love follows last year’s City Sun Eater in the River of Light and was written and recorded in the two months right after the election and is, as stated by the band’s press release, ‘not a record borne entirely of angry, knee-jerk reaction to what America is becoming. Instead, it’s a meditation on love, and on what life means now.’
