I have recently had a few people recommend the TV series, ‘Black Mirror,’ so have been working my way through series 1 and 2 (if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth checking out).
One of the episodes featured today’s lovely song, which I haven’t heard in a long time and it’s been in my head ever since!
Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) was co-written by Randy Newman and Jeannie Seely (Miss Country Soul) amongst others and was first recorded by Irma Thomas in 1964. That same year, Jeannie was working for Imperial Records in Hollywood, the label on which Irma recorded at the time and this is how Irma (the ideal vocalist for this great track) was perfectly selected to perform it.
Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) was first featured on Irma’s 1966 album, Take A Look, which was also released on the Imperial label…Take a listen above.
