SONG OF THE DAY Billy Woods – Snake Oil

“…billy woods is a rapper who defies easy categorisation”

Up until tonight I didn’t know anything about Billy Woods, but after reading the description above on his Bandcamp page, I was intrigued and wanted to see what he was all about…

Billy Woods, who makes up one-half of the rap duo Armand Hammer with ELUCID, is back with a brand new album which was released just three days ago.

The new project, titled Known Unknowns, is technically a follow-up to his outstanding Today, I Wrote Nothing. but really, it’s a successor to 2013’s  Dour Candy, which was also produced by his frequent collaborator Blockhead, who’s also worked with the likes of Atmosphere’s Slug, MarQ Spekt, Illogic, Aesop Rock and more.

The album feautures guest appearances from ELUCID (Armand Hammer), as well as Aesop Rock, Homeboy Sandman, Googie, singer Barrie McLain and DJ Mo Niklz.

I haven’t made it through the whole album yet, but so far the sleek and mysterious sounds of Snake Oil has stood out for me!  Listen to this track above and check out/purchase Known Unknowns from Billy’s Bandcamp page here.
