SONG OF THE DAY Cherryshoes – I Was A God

Hailing from Wales, Cherryshoes are an electronic outfit who describe themselves as ‘rare, ill-fitting, unexpected and eccentric.’  Their sound is captivating and enticing, led by Edna Beatty ( El-Jay) whose hypnotic vocals delicately weave their magic throughout the many spellbinding layers of dark pop noir.

Their music enters the realms of the peculiar and bizarre, enticing you in with tales of pre madonnas, real life vampires, wild horses, Fly Agaric mushroom flights, obsessional love and stalking.  Brought together ‘by the spirit of Mally Powell, singer Edna Beatty’s hillfarming, street fighting, glamrocking, crossdressing, biker Uncle’  the band are united by his memory and look to his influence as an inspiration for their unique sound.

Appearing on their Soundcloud page today are some freshly uploaded songs which, so far, are all proving to be a good listen, but this is something I’ve come to expect from Cherryshoes.   I Was A God is an instant winner in the ‘get-stuck-in-your-head’ category with its sultry feel and smokey vocals..check it out above and listen to more on the bands Soundcloud page here.
