SONG OF THE DAY Down Beats – Why Do You Love Another

I caught this complete corker of a song on a radio show today and knew from the intro that something good was about to unfold….what I didn’t anticipate, however,  was just how good this was going to be!

Why Do You Love Another is a song performed by the Down Beats, a Hartford, Connecticut band who released this funky little gem back in 1971 via US label, Dawn Records.

Don’t be fooled by the songs delicate and dreamy introduction though, because it soon transforms into a raw, smouldering, heart-wrenching and soulful ball of fire.  Opening with the line Why Do You love another, the pang of heartbreak and torment really resonates through strong vocals and a sultry funk-fuelled melody and if you are not already listening to it, go check it out now!
