SONG OF THE DAY LE SON – Ava

I know I say this a lot on here: “I’m very excited by this one,” but guess  what, I’m really really excited by today’s song!!!

Emerging electronic act LE SON are a duo from London consisting of band members Liam Fergus and Emily Ady.  Recently signed to London label, squareglass the pair create a heady blend of soul, R&B, trip-hop and jazz.  Reading through some of the comments on their Soundcloud page, LE SON have been likened to Tricky and Martina Topley-Bird and its easy to see why.  Their music is scattered with big spacious beats, powerful-yet-elegant loose phrased vocals and sultry electronic melodies.

Latest track Ava possesses an enticing feeling of intrigue and mystery with its slow simmering start, gradually developing in pace with Emily’s voice adding another rhythmic layer as she drifts between hushed vocals and spoken word.  Ava is gorgeous in all its stripped-back simplicity and has really got into my head today.  Listen above and catch a live performance of this track below.
