SONG OF THE DAY Ovef Ow – Working Girl

This track has something warming and attractive about it right from the start! As the guitar strums a gentle melody and soft vocals tunefully hum into relaxed chords, you instantly get a feeling that something nice is about to happen!

Seconds later a fast-paced beat kicks in and takes the song into a surf-crazed guitar romp, with a bouncy rhythm that you simply can’t resist moving to!  In places I can’t help but think of Echo and the Bunnymen’s Killing Moon, it’s something about this melody!  About half way through the song the pace changes and gets swept up by a heavy bass-driven riff that wouldn’t feel at all out-of-place in a Tarantino movie!

Chicago’s OVEF OW are a post-punk outfit consisting of  Marites Velasquez on bass/vocals, Sarah Braunstein on drums/vocals, Kyla Denham on synth/vocals and Nick Barnett on guitar.

Tomorrow the surf-rock quartet will be releasing a five-track EP titled, Working, which was recorded and mixed by their friend Doug Malone last winter at MINBAL studios.  The funky artwork has been supplied by Sarah Sherman!

Working Girl is the first song on this release and is available now, check it out above and grab your copy of the EP from OVEF OW’s Bandcamp page here.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Actually, this new EP was recorded and mixed by our friend Doug Malone last winter at MINBAL studios. The artwork was done by Sarah Sherman. Nick recorded the old EP. 🙂
