SONG OF THE DAY Moses Sumney – Lonely World

Though his voice is unique and beautiful it its very own special way, when I first heard Moses Sumney today, I couldn’t help but think of Jeff Buckley…and that can only be a good thing as there are not many voices out there like that.

Emerging in 2014, Moses Sumney is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has just released his debut album, Aromanticism, a concept album about “lovelessness as a sonic dreamscape“.  Prior to this the L.A-based artist has gained a hefty following through his 2015 self-released debut cassette EP, Mid-City Island and 2016 Lamentations EP, as well as performing worldwide alongside artists such as David Byrne, Karen O, Sufjan Stevens, Solange, James Blake and more.

With a style that incorporates folk, R&B, post-rock, jazz and anything else that happens to inspire, Sumney’s vocals narrate a personal journey through universal loneliness atop otherworldly compositional backdrops.

Lonely world is an achingly heartfelt exploration into a world of solitude, loneliness and introspection where Sumney’s vocals soar and croon over a dreamy, ethereal backdrop of gathering drums and an elevated and fluid melody.

Featuring Thundercat on bass as well as Animals As Leaders frontman, Tosin Abasi on guitar, Son Lux’s Ian Chang also guests on drums with the music video staring actress Sasha Lane (American Honey). Watch below.

Aromanticism is out now..listen to more and purchase from here.
