SONG OF THE DAY Shitkid – Favourite Thing

Åsa Söderqvist, aka ShitKid, is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Sweden who not only scribes all of her own music, but produces and records it too!  She first grabbed my attention this summer with the catchy sounds of Tropics  and I’ve followed her ever since (check out my other featured track, Alright too!)

Last years debut EP quickly propelled her into being one of the most talked about new acts in Sweden, closely followed by another successful release this June with her not-so-lofi album, Fish.  Early next year Sweden’s PNKSLM Recordings will be releasing a new EP from ShitKid titled, This Is It which was recorded on her own in her bedroom, her car and her rehearsal space, and later mixed and mastered by Luke Reilly.  Hosting today’s song, which also happens to be the lead single from her forthcoming release, ShitKid’s new EP is to be her forth collection of tracks in under two years and has been described as her “strongest collection of tracks to date, showcasing both a broader sound and a growth in songwriting, whilst retaining the direct lo-fi qualities of her early recordings”.

Favourite Thing cruises along with attitude, its grungy bass line and big meaty cymbals providing an enticing rhythmic contrast, whilst snarly vocals strut about opening the song with the line, “I can’t get no satisfaction….”  Listen above.

This Is It is due on January 19th, 2018 via PNKSLM Recordings on limited edition vinyl and digital. Pre-order your copy from here.
