SONG OF THE DAY Bobby Bland – Rockin’ In The Same Old Boat

Robert Calvin Brooks, aka Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, Bobby was sometimes referred to as the “Lion of the Blues” and once you have had the pleasure of listening to his melodic roar, it’s not hard to see why he gained such an apt title.  Developing a sound that fused gospel, blues and r&b, Bland was described as “one of the great storytellers of blues and soul music who created tempestuous arias of love, betrayal and resignation, set against roiling, dramatic orchestrations, and left the listener drained but awed.”

Today’s rather laid-back, bluesy affair was a single released by Bobby Bland on the Duke record label in 1968.  Written by keyboardist Vernon Morrison the track also features Chicago guitarist, Bobby King and flaunts the deep delectable blues side of Bobby’s vast vocal spectrum..listen above and check out more Bobby Bland here and here!!
