SONG OF THE DAY Michael Stasis – Hamtown Slang

If this is your first listen to Michael Stasis, join the club, this is my first listen too!..and I mean that quite literally, I am just on my second listen to the first song that introduced me to his music tonight!

Going by the musical name of Michael Stasis, Michael Bostock is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who was born and raised in Pennsylvania and now resides in LA.  Impressively he has been writing and recording songs since the age of 13, accumulating a catalogue of over 200 tracks and counting.  His musical style pivots around lo-fi, experimental pop with a quirky, fun-loving edge and his sound is influenced by past/present pop, rock and indie.

His latest album was released five days ago and is titled RIP IV, with opening track Hamtown Slang the hook that reeled me in tonight.  What you make of Stasis’ music is the billion dollar question, for he is definitely different and how you interpret that ‘different’ will ultimately sway you one way or the other.  I’m now off to investigate more and will leave you with the rocking psych sounds of Hamtown Slang where Stasis cheerily requests that “all I want is for you to have a good time” before taking off on some random instrumental tangent. Listen above.
