SONG OF THE DAY Obrey Wilson – Headman

It’s been bugging me for so long as to where DJ Format & Abdominal’s Behind the Scenes sample came from and today I cracked it!

Released on the Phillips label in 1968 and written by John Cale, Headman is a funky, upbeat soul track performed by the US gospel/soul singer-songwriter, Obrey Wilson.  With a career that spanned over twenty years starting from the early 60’s and going through to the late 70’s, it is surprising that so little is known about Obrey Wilson, but unfortunately information is scarce & that is a shame as he was a fine vocalist and strong songwriter.  Check out his 1968 hit above.
