Son Of Sam are a live hip hop outfit from the UK who formed in 2003. When the band first emerged they began by playing original hip-hop samples and in just two years, after extensive gigging, were already supporting acts like KRS-One and Raekwon!
Inspired by the likes of David Axelrod, Galt MacDermot, The Meters and James Brown, Son Of Sam create a very unique blend of soul, funk and rock; always writing a lot of their own material. Initially their music wasn’t studio recorded and most of their songs were only documented by ‘one mic’ sessions recorded onto a mini-disk player. It wasn’t until 2011 that the band laid-down a selection of our own recordings and then spent the next few years finding desirable MC’s to feature on them.
Their debut album, Cinder Hill was a long time coming, but well worth the wait! Consisting of all-original material (which was mostly live-played live), the record was released last September and featured an impressive line-up of MC’s including the likes of, Sadat X, Guilty Simpson, Large Professor, Soundsci, Prince Po and more.
