A heady fusion of psych and electronica defines the sound of the half Dutch, half Welsh artist, Accü’s debut single. Did You Count Your Eyes? released last Friday and is to be the first track from her forthcoming album which is due out later this year via Libertino Records.
It’s a powerful and original track packed with heavy beats and otherworldly electronic sounds, accompanied by a strong melody and distinct vocals. Describing how the track came about in an interview with The Line of Best Fit, Accü has explained how, “The chorus was written years ago in my mind. For years the words and melody would continue to revisit and tease me like an annoying lullaby, until last year I began reading Clarissa Pinkola Estés’s Women Who Run With The Wolves. Consequently the once annoying lullaby in my head had decided to reach its angsty, political female puberty and thus, the song was born. Maybe I want to annoy others.”
