SONG OF THE DAY Happy Axe – Seven Sounds

Planting its melodic roots in your head with its haunting intro, Seven Sounds is the first single from the Australian violinist and singer-songwriter, Emma Kelly – a.k.a Happy Axe.  Tune into its emotive strings and you will be hypnotised by their haunting melody, swim towards the watery, siren-like vocals and you will be forever lost; this is the kind of feeling Seven Sounds gives you, it’s like a dream that has you entranced in moments.

Releasing her debut album, Dream Punching in March this year on Spirit Level Records, Happy Axe weaves layered vocals, violin and musical saw into a vibrant fever-dream of ambient pop music.  Inspired by the organic sonic landscapes of artists like Björk and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and the brooding string-laden film scores of David Lynch and Hollywood noir, Happy Axe builds sound-worlds filled with both light and shadow.
