SONG OF THE DAY The Modern Lovers – She Cracked

The original Modern lovers were active from 1970 to 1974, but their recordings were not released until 1976 and after.

Initially The Modern Lovers consisted of Jonathan Richman, bassist Ernie Brooks, drummer David Robinson (later of The Cars) and keyboardist Jerry Harrison (later of Talking Heads); all of whom were heavily influenced by the sounds of the Velvet Underground.  Influential to the later sounds of punk, new wave, alternative and indie rock, their music continues to influence decades later..but its no wonder really because, even with only one album to their name, The Modern Lovers were not only pioneering, but massively unique! She Cracked is one of my favourite tracks that appears on their 1976 eponymous album..check it out above.

It’s She Cracked, not She’s Cracked.

  2. Thank you! In all this time I’ve loved this track, I’d somehow convinced myself it was “She’s”’……🙂…🙄🙄
