SONG OF THE DAY Shawn Lee and The Soul Surfers – Introduction

“Music is truly the international language and it’s not where you’re from, but where you’re at…..”

Shawn Lee and the Soul Surfers eponymous border-breaking album has been a record described as deep in “raw grit and musical exploration!”

Released last month, I’ve been sitting here today wondering why its taken me so long to explore the whole record fully?  It’s quite a dream really and first track (aptly entitled Introduction) opens on the very transcendental note that it continues on..when I say this is an album worth listening to, I mean in its entirety, from start to finish; if you like today’s track, you should definitely navigate your way through the whole dreamy experience!

The collaboration up of the London-based American producer/composer/musician Shawn Lee, together with Russian soul, psych-funk band The Soul Surfers has produced an enticing project that crosses genre, age and world politics; thus proving that (as described on their Bandcamp page): “Music is Truly the International language and it’s not where you’re from, but where you’re at!”

Today’s song is the first of nine belting soul-funk tracks on the album and introduces the record with some sinuously cosmic melodic intervals, deep, booming bass and hefty big beats…and you know how I adore those big beats! It’s a striking album which was released via Fat Beats Records early last month and is available to check out/purchase from here

While surfing your blog I randomly found that album and was amazed. Some kind of “alternative psychedelic”. I sure that if our generations didn’t understand this album next generations definitely will love it. Music from the future and past both, kinda.
