SONG OF THE DAY Connie Francis – Eighteen


It has been suggested that today’s sassy little number was written about Connie Francis, but at the date of its release in 1957 she would have been a good couple of years older than the title suggests, so I can’t confirm if that fact is indeed true.

Either way it’s not hard to get carried off in Connie’s dreamy vocals as they charismatically cruise over the sauntering hand-clapping-infused pop-rock beat as the chorus repeatedly croons,“Can’t stop the clock — ooh, gotta rock.”  MGM Records released this in 1957…Check it out above.
