SONG OF THE DAY Strange Cages – False Prophet Death Waltz

Well, if you thought the title of today’s track was a mouthful, just you wait until you press play and the madness is unleashed!

Brighton three-piece, Strange Cages  once described themselves as a “garage/psych band with cruel intentions” and if you’re already familiar with their music, I’m pretty sure you’d agree with this statement!  No stranger to the LP Blog, this garage-punk trio never fail to put a little shiver and shake into my day with their gritty, punk-fuelled psych-tastic sounds!

Influenced by the classic sounds of the grand old garage days of the 60’s, the Strange Cages are influenced by the post-punk sounds of 13th Floor Elevators, The Stooges and Television to name a few and state that, “We love music that’s primal and menacing, anything twisted with a touch of evil.”

Latest single False Prophet Death Waltz is the first track off of an upcoming Silver Queen EP which is due in September via Valance Records and was recorded by Margo Broom (Fat White Family, Telegram).  The entirety of the EP is centred around the story of a fictional cult leader dubbed the Silver Queen.  On August 16th the boys will be taking over Gallery 46, an art gallery in Whitechapel, turning the rooms of the gallery into an interactive trip through the mind of the deranged cult leader for one night only.  This will be an audible, smell-able, visual attack on your senses with surprises and exclusive pre-EP release goodies!!! Now, go lose yourself in three and a half minutes of melodic mayhem and check out the accompanying video below.
