SONG OF THE DAY Big Joe Louis & The Soul Investigators – Go-Go Train

Today’s song was a rather fluky find! Aided by my friend we had intentionally set out to find a particular video, but then we stumbled upon Go-Go Train….

Born in Jamaica and moving to the UK in the 1970’s, Big Joe Louis is a soul and blues artist whose musical arrangements have been said to “consciously echo vintage Chess Records, right down to the stand-up bass and Little George Sueref’s able approximations of Little Walter’s harmonica style.”

His sound precedes his years and you could easily be mistaken in thinking this music comes from decades ago, but Big Joe Louis emerged in the early 90’s when he shot to prominence as one of the UK’s foremost blues performers.  Fronting the Big Town Playboys and later his own Blues Kings combo, Big Joe Louis has also performed with Helsinki’s soul revivalists and Timmion label founders, The Soul Investigators…of whom feature in today’s song! Check it out above…
