SONG OF THE DAY Gavin Clark – Bermondsey Stutter

You know, I would’ve sworn that I’ve featured this song before and wouldn’t have doubted it for a minute had I not been looking for it on here today…but I haven’t!!  How I’ve never shared Bermondsey Stutter before I’ll never know.  This is one of my favourite songs from one of my all-time favourite artists and its delicate grace and precious lyrics never ceases to have the same effect on me no matter how many times I play it.

I first discovered Gavin Clark’s music way back in 1996 after I had heard one of his songs in a Shane Meadows film.  He was one of those artists I instantly liked but found my admiration grew as the years went by, it wasn’t always easy listening and got heavy in places, but it always felt honest.  When the devastating news of his death hit in 2015, I was heartbroken; he was one of those magic delicate souls that, even though you never actually knew him, you always felt like you were connected to him through his music..  He will always have a special place in my heart…as will today’s song, which I have also included a live version of below (with Nick Hemming and Helen Whitaker of The Leisure Society).

..and if you’ve never seen Gavin Clark’s The Living Room (with Shane Meadows), I strongly urge you to check that out, find that here..(and check out more Gavin Clark on my pages here).
