Californian guitarist and composer Tommy Guerrero has been known to fuse an array of styles into his ever-evolving sound, incorporating rock, hip hop, funk, soul and jazz into his compositions. For his latest and forthcoming album, Road to Knowhere, he has added a new flavour into the mix, drawing upon the sounds of Ethio-Jazz, Afrobeat, Highlife, Spiritual Jazz and dusty funk 45’s for inspiration.
A man of many talents Tommy Guerrero started out in the Bones Brigade skate team in the 80’s before making several appearances in movies. He has designed for Levis in Japan, Vans shoes worldwide and Sutro eyewear, gaining a skateboard contract with Converse, co-founded Real Skateboards and 40’s Clothing, is art director for Krooked Skateboarding and found time to be a prolific recording artist…for which his passion has blossomed. Releasing his first single over 20 years ago Guerrero’s is not afraid to explore and push boundaries with his music and if new single El Camino Negro is anything to go by, his new record is going to be a corker! I love the mysterious groove of the bass and drums, whilst the melody artful and sinuous..what more can I say! This is one enticing and intriguing instrumental!
