SONG OF THE DAY Billy Childish – Bottom of the Sea

Billy Childish is something of a mystery for me and I don’t know why! He’s always hovered on the perimeters of my musical radars, but I’ve never delved too deep…until now…

A painter, author, poet, photographer, film maker, singer and guitarist, Childish has been prolific in creating music, visual art and writing since the late 70’s.  Leading and playing in bands such as the Pop Rivets, Thee Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats and the Musicians of the British Empire, his music has covered various genres including rock, punk and surf and in that time he has released more than 100 albums!!

Bottom of the Sea appears on Billy Childish’ 1998 album, Devil in the Flesh and features guitarist Dan Melchior.  In all its tortured-soul-glory the song howls and ponders over the burdens, insanity and curse of love…It’s a little cracker for sure! Listen above.
