SONG OF THE DAY Clayhill – The River

Image result for clayhill bandThis song is a such a beauty and I’ve loved it for many years.  It’s gentle flow cleanses even my most troubled of mindsets and I’ll never know a day when it ceases to still my ever-stirring, endlessly whirring mind.

What could be better than the original though? Well, if not better, the version I am featuring today is most definitely on a par and has just the same effect on me.  The River was originally performed by Tim Buckley and first appeared on his 1969 album, Blue Afternoon.

In 2005 a compilation album entitled Dream Brother was released as a tribute to Tim and Jeff Buckley. The album consisted on various artists covering a selection of the Buckley’s songs and on this album Clayhill delivered a stunning take on The River.  One of my all-time favourite artists is the late Gavin Clark and with his band, Clayhill, he delivers this most beautiful rendition…and I love it so.  Check it out above and listen to the original below.
