SONG OF THE DAY Billy Childish & The Chatham Singers – I Believe

For his 2005 album, Heavens Journey, Billy Childish was joined by Wolf Howard and his wife Julie on backing vocals and bass guitar.

The Chatham Singers is another outlet for Childish’s blues work and although Billy had been playing and recording blues for over a quarter of a century, this was the first LP he had made in this genre for many years.

Heavens Journey featured a hearty selection of great tunes, but this collaboration with his wife and friends also served as a showcase for many new poems, offering 10 blues tracks and 13 poems.

I Believe is a smouldering sensation of howling harmonica, hushed, sultry vocals and blues rawness! Stripped back with dark sparseness, the beat creeps along like a slow, mystery train….Soooooo nice! Check it out above..
